Burroughs starts Podcast #72 by talking about last week’s Sentry Tournament of Champions where Dustin Johnson rolled to an eight-shot victory. Jon Rahm finished second.

Our host talks about this week’s events on both tour’s. The PGA Tour stays in the Aloha State at the Sony Open in Hawaii in the year’s first full-field event. Jordan Spieth and defending champion Justin Thomas are the betting favorites.

The European Tour starts its season in Johannesburg, South Africa at the 108th BMW SA Open. Charl Schwartzel and Branden Grace are the headliners in a tournament that Ernie Els plays host.
Burroughs makes his picks for the week as well as helping you set your fantasy team. Our host record for last week was 3-1 and 13-6-2 for the year. Burroughs dishes on this week’s action on all the tours across the world.
Should be another exciting week in golf!

Burroughs Predictions for the Sony Open in Hawaii – ODDS courtesy of BETDSI.eu

Venue: Waialae Country Club, Honolulu, Hawaii – 7,044 yards – Par-70. Depending on how hard the tradewinds blow, the winning score will be between 12 – 18 under par.
TV Coverage for the Sony Open in Hawaii: Thursday-Saturday, 7-10:30 p.m. ET – Golf Channel. Sunday, 6-10 p.m. – Golf Channel.

Defending Champion: Justin Thomas

Zach Johnson +2200 is coming off a dismal year after making an equipment change at the start of the year. This course should fit Johnson’s eye more than any other course he will play all year on the PGA Tour. Johnson is one of the best drivers of the ball and if he can hole some putts early, he will be back on his wedge game and be in contention this week. At +2200, he offers gamers the best value on the board.

Another veteran player that has the perfect game for Waialae is Jason Dufner +4300. He played last week in Maui and was a respectable T11, despite a closing round 74. This week the course is short and tight which is right in Dufner’s wheelhouse.

MATCHUPS of the WEEK (Odds courtesy of BetDSI)

Jordan Spieth -170 vs. Justin Thomas +150
Wow, what a difference a week makes. Last week Spieth and Thomas were hooked up in a matchup and Spieth was a slight favorite at -125 and advised you to take Spieth which turned out to be an easy winner. This week, he’s up to -170. Thomas is the defending champion and will bounce back against his buddy. I love JT and the plus money.

Bill Haas -125 vs. Austin Cook +105
Haas is making a rare start in Hawaii to kick off his season and I like him for one simple reason – he’s the better player. Haas is ranked No. 57 in the world rankings and you know he wants to get off to a great start and climb quickly back into the top 50. Cook is ranked No. 128 and is getting his feet wet on the PGA Tour. Give me No. 57 versus No. 128 every day of the week.

Burroughs’ wraps up the #72 edition by giving out his sleeper picks which include Russell Henley, Bill Haas and Charles Howell III.
