Burroughs starts Podcast #74 by going over last week’s action at the Farmers Insurance Open where for the third week in-a-row, it took extra holes to declare the champion. Ryan Palmer, Alex Noren and Jason Day all were tied at 10-under par after regulation play. Palmer was eliminated on the first hole, while Noren and Day continued to play shot for shot and after five holes they were still tied and couldn’t finish until Monday. The playoff would last four shots. Day makes birdie and gets in the winner’s circle since the PLAYERS in 2016.

In Europe, Hao-Tong Li dueled it out with Rory McIlroy for the last 36 holes and guess what, he won the tournament. It was the Chineses phenoms second career European Tour title.

Our host talks about this week’s events on both tour’s. The West Coast Swing continues on the PGA Tour this week in the Arizona desert at the Waste Management Phoenix Open where Hideki Matsuyama tried to three-peat.

The European Tour travels to Malaysia for the Maybank Championship. The over-50 Tour are off this week.

Burroughs makes his picks for the week as well as helping you set your fantasy team. Our host record for last week was 4-1-1 and 20-10-3 for the year. Burroughs dishes on this week’s action on all the tours across the world.

Hideki Matsuyama vs. Anyone

Matsuyama’s first four trips around TPC Scottsdale have produced two wins, a T3 and T4. I look for that trend to continue. He closed last week off very strong by shooting one of the few under-par scores at Torrey Pines on the final day to grab a share of 12th. He obviously loves playing in Phoenix and will be tough to beat this week.

Harris English EV vs. Scott Piercy -120

After missing five cuts to start the year, English has found something and reeled off to straight top 10’s. He’s played in Phoenix six years and never missed the cut with a career best finish of T3 in 2014. Piercy played well in his last start at the CareerBuilder, T6, and hasn’t missed a cut this year. Until English shows me more than just two weeks of form, I prefer to take my chances on Piercy who thrives on the West Coast.

Matt Kuchar EV vs. Charles Howell III -120

Two players that often go unnoticed on most weeks square off against one another. Kuchar is arguably one of the most consistent players on the Tour, while Howell III isn’t far behind. Neither wins enough but both are money-making machines. Howell III is fresh off a T6 in San Diego that followed a T20 at the CareerBuilder. Kuchar is making his first start of the year. Kuch comes out a little rusty which allows Howell III to grab the money.

Brandt Snedeker -130 vs. Chesson Hadley +110

Two players heading in different directions. Snedeker missed most of last year with multiple injuries and hasn’t played well to start the year, missing a cut and barely making the other. Hadley, on the other hand, is brimming with confidence and had a monster year on the Web.com Tour to earn back his playing privileges. I love Hadley and the plus money.

Defending Champion: Hideki Matsuyama
Venue: TPC Scottsdale, Scottsdale, Arizona – 7,261 yards, par 71
