Duke star sophomore Grayson Allen has made his intentions known, opting for a third year with the Blue Devils instead of entering his name into the NBA Draft. Thanks to a brief but illustrious run in the NCAA Tournament his freshman season, many thought Allen wouldn’t even return for a sophomore campaign.
Now that he’s shown an ability to be a lead scorer for an entire season–to the tune of 21.6 points per game and nearly 42-percent shooting from deep–one has to think that Duke becomes the frontrunner for national title favorite honors in 2016-2017.
People really tripping all over themselves to make Grayson Allen jokes today. Most fall flat.

Yes, Allen made waves with his uncanny ability to have his feet be in the wrong place at the wrong time throughout his sophomore year. But he’s also a guy who could be the preseason favorite for Naismith Player of the Year honors, despite the loaded recruiting class that Duke has coming in next fall.
