Holloway vs Pettis Odds – The UFC 206 hits Toronto, Canada this Saturday for their second show on back to back nights. The main card of 206 will be available on pay-per-view, with the rest of the twelve fight card airing on the UFC Fight Pass network.
The main event will see a 145-pound interim title disputed between Anthony Pettis and Max Holloway. The featherweight division has been in turmoil ever since titleholder Conor McGregor moved up in weight and also took the UFC’s lightweight title. While the UFC waited for the Conor McGregor show to decide what he was doing, they gave Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar an interim title fight that Aldo won, setting up a showdown with McGregor. Now the UFC has stripped McGregor of the featherweight title and elevated Aldo back up to “full” champion without a fight. The winner of Pettis and Holloway will likely be Aldo’s first challenger.
Holloway (16-3) is the hot hand here, as he is riding a nine fight winning streak that has left him as a clear contender to the divisional belt. His last loss came to McGregor back in August of 2013 so he is riding a winning streak of over three years. Pettis is a former lightweight champion in his own right, but he moved down to the featherweight division after enduring a three fight losing streak that saw his stock plummet. This past August Pettis defeated Charles Oliveira in his 145 pound debut to earn the shot at interim gold.
Donald Cerrone is back after his aborted UFC 205 fight against Kelvin Gastelum, and he now faces Matt Browne in a fight between two men heading in different directions in their UFC career. Cerrone is right where he wants to be, cruising into his fourth fight of the year looking to go 4-0. As for Browne, who once owned a seven fight winning streak to get to the cusp of a title shot, he has gone 1-4 since then and is no where near the list of top 5 fighters in the division any more. Browne is a good measuring stick for Cerrone, who has looked awesome at welter since moving up from lightweight. Browne has lost to the likes of Robbie Lawler, Demain Maia and Johny Hendricks in his recent down slide, so he has been facing the top names in the division.

Matching Kelvin Gastelum against Tim Kennedy perhaps is Dana White’s way of showing disdain for Gastelum, who failed to make the 170 pound weight class for his November 12th fight with Donald Cerrone. Kennedy is a big, rugged middleweight who also had a few fights come apart and was willing to fight up at light heavyweight.
