The Carolina Hurricanes evened their series with the Washington Capitals on Thursday night with a 2-1 victory over the defending Stanley Cup champions. Carolina jumped on Washington early, scoring a goal in the first 17 seconds to go up 1-0, and a second goal as the second period was winding down proved to be decisive. That’s just the tip of the iceberg in terms of NHL news though.
Alex Ovechkin VERY critical of Warren Foegele's hit on T.J. Oshie and the way the officials called it. Oshie left the game and did not return. #Capitals #ALLCAPS @nbcwashington pic.twitter.com/r53Tac79sZ

It looks like T.J. Oshie will miss the remainder of the Capitals’ series with the Hurricanes after Warren Foegele pushed him into the boards late in the third period. Foegele was given a minor penalty for his transgression, but Alex Ovechkin and other members of the Capitals thought it was a cheap shot and made their voices heard after the game. That should make Game 5 in Washington a spicy affair.

The St. Louis Blues erased a 2-0 third period deficit and scored with 15 seconds to go in regulation to go up 3-2 on the Winnipeg Jets in their series. Home ice continues to be meaningless as the road team has won all five games in the series.

San Jose didn’t need long to go up on Vegas on Thursday night, and the Sharks eventually cruised to a 5-2 win to stay alive in their series. The Golden Knights are up 3-2 and will have the chance to close out the series on home ice on Sunday.

Hockeytown USA is buzzing with the announcement that one of their own will be coming back to the Motor City. Steve Yzerman will try to resurrect the Detroit Red Wings like he helped turn around the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Red Wings have missed out on the playoffs for three straight seasons after 25 consecutive playoff appearances.
Drake showed up for Game 4 of the series against the Boston Bruins in his hometown of Toronto rocking Maple Leafs gear. He witnessed another loss. https://t.co/OljB3INQ8b

The Drake Curse is real. Even though Mike Babcock has denied the presence of Drake doomed his team on Wednesday night, the evidence suggests otherwise. We first saw the Drake Curse in the NBA with the Raptors before it moved to European soccer a few weeks ago. Now it has found its way on the ice, and the Maple Leafs are hoping to shake it off before Game 5.
