Illinois State Swimming & Diving Records Eighth Highest GPA in NCAA

The Illinois State women’s swimming and diving team earned the eighth-best grade point average among NCAA Division I women’s swimming & diving schools this spring, earning them a spot on the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar-Athlete All-America Team.

Head Coach Caitlin Hamilton remarked, “As a program, we take great satisfaction in achieving both in the classroom and in the pool. “When I reflect on the two semesters of this year, I feel like we made enormous strides in both directions.” The Redbirds, who came in second place in the MVC Swimming & Diving Championships, earned the accolade with a grade point average of 3.74, which is not only among the top-10 in the country but also the highest in the MVC.

CSCAA Executive Director Samantha Barany noted that Coach Hamilton “continues to make the university proud in both the pool and the classroom.” As 731 teams fight for a spot on the Scholar All-America Team, this is undoubtedly a noteworthy accomplishment.
