The Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas has quickly become one of the premier events for high school basketball teams out west, providing a stage for players like De’Ron Davis to showcase their improvement for the country.
Davis, who signed with Indiana last month, helped lead Overland High School (Aurora, Colo.) to the championship over Zach Collins (Gonzaga signee) and national powerhouse Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) on Sunday. Overland point guard Jervae Robsinon was named MVP of the prestigious event.
In the title game, fans and scouts were treated to the best match-up of the weekend with Davis and Collins going head to head.
Indiana fans have long been excited about the offensive potential of Davis, who chose the Hoosiers over Texas, Mississippi State. Colorado, Arizona, and others. He gave them even more reason to do so over the weekend, dropping 20 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots against Collins, who has consistently climbed scouts’ rankings over the past year.

These two guards saw their respective stock sky rocket over the weekend, helping pace their teams on the perimeter while their big men ran things underneath.
O’Bannon Jr. is ranked No. 44 in the country for the 2017 class by Rivals.com and is receiving strong interest from all of the top schools in the west. Meanwhile, Robinson has yet to be ranked, and is being recruited by South Dakota State and Mercer–though that list is soon to grow.
