The No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners (7-1) put their three-game win streak on the line as they take on the Iowa State Cyclones (3-5). The Big 12’s third-leading passer, Baker Mayfield (2,470 yards, 25 TDs), and the second-leading rusher, Mike Warren (954 yards, 4 TDs), will be featured in this game. It will air Saturday, Nov 7 at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPU.
In last week’s matchup, Oklahoma dominated Kansas 62-7. Baker Mayfield had a huge game through the air in the victory, connecting on 27 of 32 pass attempts for 383 yards and four TDs. Sterling Shepard had a great game as well, adding 183 receiving yards and a TD on 11 catches. Winning in similar fashion, Iowa State won big over Texas 24-0. Joel Lanning had a solid performance through the air for the Cyclones, connecting on 19 of 37 pass attempts for 188 yards and one TD. He added 64 yards on 13 carries. Dondre Daley put up 52 receiving yards and a TD on three catches.
The Over/Under (O/U) for the matchup is unavailable currently and the Cyclones are a huge 26-point underdog.
Sitting at 7-1 Straight Up (SU) and 6-2 Against The Spread (ATS), the Sooners will look to improve heading into Week 10. In their five most recent matchups, the Sooners went 4-1 for both SU and ATS. A focal point of Oklahoma’s offense is its passing game, which ranks 14th in the country with 329.6 passing yards per game. Crossing over to the defensive side of the ball, the Sooners look to have a distinct advantage in certain spots. Expect the Sooners defense to restrict Iowa State’s passing attack. The Sooners have the 10th-ranked pass defense in the nation and give up only 168.4 passing yards per game. The Cyclones will need to stop Oklahoma’s defense from getting to their quarterback in order to be successful in this game. The Sooners rank second in the nation in sacks with 3.6 per game. In the first quarter, Oklahoma is tough to stop, putting up 9.5 points in the first 15 minutes.
As for their opponent, the Cyclones head into Week 10 with records of 4-4 ATS and 3-5 SU. Over their last five games, the Cyclones have a SU record of 2-3 and a 3-2 record ATS for those betting with them. The defensive front seven better be ready for Iowa State’s bruising rushing attack which has averaged 228.6 yards on the ground over its past five games. Moving on to the Iowa State defense, it has some favorable matchups that it may be able to take advantage of as well. The Oklahoma offensive line, which ranks 111th in the country with 2.9 sacks allowed per game, could be an area where the Cyclones attack.
Predictions: SU Winner – Oklahoma, ATS Winner – Oklahoma
