In the Tigers’ last contest, they were beaten by the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks, 75-66. One of Louisiana-Monroe’s largest strengths was their ability to convert at the free throw line. They were 16-20 (80.0 percent), while the Tigers were just 13-19 (68.4 percent). Jackson State’s Chris Howell put together a solid performance, contributing 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Bulldogs were beaten by the South Florida Bulls in their last game, 80-63. South Florida’s 0.651 effective field goal percentage was their largest advantage over Alabama A&M, who had a rate of 0.510. Arthur Johnson put together a good game for Alabama A&M, leading both teams in scoring with 20 points on 6-for-12 shooting.

After splitting two games last season, these teams will battle for the first time this year. In the most recent contest, the Bulldogs won 66-59. Alabama A&M had a much better free throw rate (0.333 vs. 0.096). Jackson State, meanwhile, had a much better turnover percentage (13.4 vs. 25.6).

It could be a sloppy game for the Alabama A&M offense. Alabama A&M ranks 338th in the country in ball protection (turnover percentage of 23.3 percent), while the pesky defense of Jackson State forces the 64th-most turnovers in the nation (20.2 percent).
