Jarell Martin Dunking All Over NC State

As LSU and North Carolina State come down the home stretch of their first round match up in the NCAA Tournament, LSU sophomore Jarell Martin continues to throw down highlight reel dunks made for Vine.

First up was a one-handed tomahawk slam on the break, and just five minutes later, Martin obliterated a putback dunk to propel LSU towards their 14-point halftime lead.

Martin has long been known as a freak athlete who can put on an absolute show above the rim. Earlier this year against Florida, he got out on the break and pulled off the famed “Eastbay” dunk, going through the legs mid-air.

Of course, as things like this often do, his dunk drew criticism from pundits across the country, and some seemed to think that him pulling it off was some kind of metaphor for LSU’s discipline problems. Never mind that he made it, and it clearly got the fans and his bench pumped up for a must-win game.

Many bracketologists had the Tigers out of the NCAA Tournament field after failing to reach the SEC Tournament final, but according to the selection committee, LSU had little to fear, evidenced by them being a nine-seed in the East region.

At time of publishing, the Tigers lead NCSU by double-digits, and look poised to match up with one-seed Villanova in the second round. If Martin continue to play this well, and the Tigers get similar energy from Jordan Mickey underneath, LSU has serious Cinderella potential in this tournament.
