Pelicans G Holiday has season-ending surgery|Associated Press
New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury and will miss the remainder of the season. The procedure took place in Philadelphia on Tuesday and was performed by Dr. William Meyers, who is well-known as a specialist for the sports hernia. Holiday will need about six week to fully recover, which means he will not play again this season after already missing the previous eight games due to a strained abdomen.
The 10-year veteran excelled in the 2018-19 and averaged career highs of 21.2 points and five boards per game, tied his career high for steals per game with 1.6 and had his third-highest assist average at 7.7.

Lightning coach Cooper has multiyear extension|ESPN
Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper signed a multiyear extension on Tuesday, the team announced.
He joined the Lightning in 2013 and is currently the NHL’s longest-tenured coach, while Cooper is Tampa Bay’s all-time leader with 301 victories. The Lightning made it to at least the Eastern Conference finals in three of the last four years and they lost in last season’s conference final to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals. They are the favorites to lift the cup this time around, which would be their first since 2004.
“His ability to forge impactful relationships with everyone from players to staff has been a trademark of his tenure with the organization and he is the absolute best coach for our hockey team,” general manager Julien Brise Bois said in a statement. “Coop’s ability to develop a strong culture while continually adapting has been a big part of the team’s success. He has helped set high standards for our organization with his unrelenting drive for excellence.”
