The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series presents the KC Masterpiece 400, live from Kansas City, Kansas. The green flag is set to drop at approximately 6:10 p.m. EST time and can be seen on FS1 for your evening speedway entertainment. Last year at this event, defending champion Martin Truex Jr. faired quite well. Cole Pearn and the boys led the most laps (104), qualified third and finished in first. He also took the fall race so he will be going for three-straight. Kevin Harvick’s FORD (188.811 mph) is on the pole. Obviously, he’s super fast-fast once again.
Kevin Harvick
Kevin Harvick took his fourth pole at Kansas Speedway to finish off a Friday at the track. It’s business as usual for the BUSCH sponsored boys. He also qualified eighth and finished in third in the 2017 spring version. Add to that, he is practicing well (1st) and is Vegas’ first choice to take down the KC Masterpiece 400 on Sunday. Prognosticators have the veteran as a +333 favorite to win number five of the season. The number is where it’s at for a reason. Only his pitfalls on pit road can slow him down now.
Kyle Busch
Slowly becoming NASCAR’s driver to beat, Kyle “Rowdy” Busch has also performed admirably at this event. Busch took first here in the spring of 2016. He also scooped-up a fifth-place result in 2017 and tenth in the fall. The man can flat out drive. Line-setters think so too, placing him at +400, tied with second with Martin Truex Jr. Oh, by the way, he will be going for his fourth win of the season. Joe Gibbs Racing’s workhorse has to be on a ticket this weekend.
Martin Truex Jr.
Martin Truex Jr. is at +400 because he has been a beast at this raceway. In fact, he has won the last two and is set to go off in the seventh position for the start of the KC Masterpiece 400. The reigning and defending speedster has been stellar on the 1.5-mile ovals so respect has to be given. Sin City says +400 and I’m not going to argue. Besides a few rough goes, he has been consistent and comes into the contest with a win and sits in ninth in the point race. The collaboration with JGR and Truex’s team has worked well, will the relationship be tested again in the KC Masterpiece 400.
Ryan Blaney
The second-year rockstar goes out with that blue-collar effort every weekend. Blaney grinds and I like that about a driver in the grueling Monster Cup Series. He was fast in the practices, quickest in the first round of qualifying and is starting in second. I like the fact that he has found himself out front for his fair share of the time. I also like the fact he knows he should’ve won once already. Cmon man, he did race for the Woods Bros. Las Vegas says the line is +1500 hundred. I think that is a great little bet for the price of the return. Speaking of collaborations, Blaney to Penske Racing is already providing some fruit.
