Kentucky Notifies NCAA Violations

Following an examination into players receiving payment for part-time labor that was not performed at the university hospital, Kentucky self-reported infractions to the NCAA. In the report, which was made public on Saturday but delivered to Jerry Vaughn, the director of NCAA reinstatement, on September 3, the institution requested that the breaches be classified as Level III.

After becoming aware of potential infractions in February, the school launched an inquiry. It was later discovered that the violations took place between spring 2021 and March. It only applied to a “small number” of athletes who worked in the hospital’s patient transport department and covered up their usage of a clock-in/clock-out system.

The part-time occupations “may demand physical strength and would be good for athletes,” according to the report, which did not identify the teams the players were on. From the six-page document, which claims a hospital supervisor denied being aware of athletes logging hours not worked, the identities of the players and the number engaged are censored. The coach has not released any official statements.
