Kings News: Sacremento Agrees To Big Extension With Buddy Hield

One of the NBA’s bright young stars will remain in Sacramento for the foreseeable future. Indeed, on the eve of the 2019-2020 NBA regular season starting, Buddy Hield has signed a four-year, $94 million dollar extension with the Kings.

Equally important, the deal allows the Kings and Hield to avoid restricted free agency next summer.

The transaction was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, who is on top of all things NBA.

Furthermore, this may have come down from ownership where they simply said ‘keep this guy at all costs’. From the ESPN Article which talks about Hield’s extension:

Hield has been a favorite of owner Vivek Ranadive, who was the driving force in wanting to acquire Hield in his rookie year with the Pelicans. Hield is coming off his best NBA season — 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He also shot 43% on 3-pointers.

Moreover, I have always taken a liking to Hield as a player since his collegiate days. And why is that you ask? Simply, the man likes to shoot it from long distance. No player in NBA history has hit more 3-pointers (275) in his first three seasons than Hield.

As mentioned earlier in the article, Hield is highly successful from shooting long-range. He has a style of play that brings eyes to the sport, eyes like mine. In a sport where the highlight dunk has become what gets played on networks across America, Hield is a throwback who still likes to be a pure shooter.

This is a nice investment for Sacremento. While they finished the 2018-2019 season 39-43 and just on the outside looking in for the playoffs, they have a strong core. This core includes Hield and  De’Aaron Fox which make up an elite backcourt duo. Also, Sacramento has a young core that includes the guards Marvin Bagley and Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Finally, this will make the former number six pick out of Oklahoma a very rich young man in Hield; now seemingly set for life.
