The New York Knicks had the league’s worst record in the 2018-19 season as they recorded a miserable 17 wins. After failing to bring in a superstar in free agency, the bookmakers don’t believe the Knicks will get near the playoff picture this time around and set their season wins total at 27 (Caesars).

Three different online betting sites had the Knicks between 27.5 and 29.5 wins, but none of them expect New York to get 30 victories in the 2019-20 campaign. Still, power forward Bobby Portis thinks the oddsmakers are wrong, and he is convinced the Knicks will fight for the playoffs next season.
“It’s pretty low,’’ Portis said. “We’re trying to make the playoffs. Twenty-eight wins isn’t going to do it. Everyone has their opinion. But if we stick together, [the] sky is the limit. We have weapons to make noise in the East.’’
The New York Knicks haven’t made the playoffs in six consecutive years, and according to the bookmakers and media, they will not make it in this one as well. Since head coach Jeff Van Gundy resigned during the 2001-02 campaign, the Knicks made the postseason just four times.
The Knicks were expected to add one or two All-Stars to their roster this summer, but they missed out on Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard, among others. Star players don’t find the Knicks very attractive at the moment, which was evident in Durant and Irving’s decision to join the Brooklyn Nets instead.
DeAndre Jordan, who spent the second part of the last season with the Knicks, also moved to Barclays Center, declining an opportunity to re-sign with New York in the process.
