Anthony Davis joined the Los Angeles Lakers in a trade last month, and this move will boost his chance to win the title he is missing — the NBA championship. Even though he won an NCAA championship and an Olympic gold medal so far in his career (along with six All-Star appearances) Davis is still looking for a NBA ring. However, Davis doesn’t think it’s a failure and reckons that he has enough time to complete his goal.
“I don’t think I have a failure that I’ve had yet,” Davis told ESPN. “Obviously, at the end of my career, if I don’t win a championship that would be, I would feel that’s one of my biggest failures. But right now, I still have a lot to do in this world on and off the court. So I don’t feel like I’ve failed in anything. I think I just continue to do it over until I succeed at it.”

In all fairness, Davis didn’t even come close to winning a title as the New Orleans Pelicans made the playoffs just twice in his seven-year stint. The former No. 1 pick last played in the postseason when the Pelicans lost to the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the 2018 playoffs.
Davis’ move to the Los Angeles Lakers will undoubtedly improve his chances as he teams up with superstar LeBron James. Namely, the Lakers are given a second-best chance to win the NBA next season, right behind the Clippers.

The Lakers were rather unsuccessful in recent years as they failed to make the playoffs for six consecutive seasons — the longest drought in franchise history. General manager Rob Pelinka was quite optimistic that his team will fight for the title following Anthony Davis’ arrival.
“For us, anything short of a championship is not success,” Pelinka said. “So we have to learn from last season because we didn’t win a championship. And a lot of that went into the construction of the roster this year.”
