The Los Angeles Lakers have the opportunity to offer two max contracts to free agents, and they appear intent on landing LeBron James and Paul George. Rumors have long indicated both players are interested in signing with the purple and gold.
The Lakers’ recruiting pitch to George has apparently leaked, per a report from Sports Illustrated.
The Lakers reportedly plan to use a voiceover on a video that they’ll show to PG13. The person providing the voiceover was instructed to make it “less Morgan Freeman/Denzel Washington, and more Jamie Foxx.” Below is the full text of the monologue, which the team titled “Two Dreams.”
When you were just a kid
In your room
Dreaming from Palmdale
We were dreaming too.
While you dreamt, we built – built for your arrival
And while we dreamt, you built too
Becoming one of the world’s greatest.
Life’s most powerful dreams are the one we realize ourselves.
The ones that turn us into legends.
That kid from Palmdale always knew it
Now the world will, too
As “Two Dreams” notes, George is a California native. He grew up in Palmdale and played collegiately at Fresno State.
In this season, his first with the Oklahoma City Thunder, George averaged 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists as he played alongside Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo accepted his player option over the weekend, so all signs are that he will be back with Oklahoma City next season.
George’s Past & Future
George, 28, was the 10th overall pick in the 2010 draft. He spent the first seven years of his career with the Indiana Pacers. He’s a five-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA Third-Teamer.
George is noted as one of the best two-way players in the league. He has made one of the NBA’s All-Defense teams three times. The 6-foot-9 small forward has a player option for $20.9 million in the 2018-19 season, but it would be a big surprise if he opted in, spurning the Lake Show.
BetDSI Sportsbook is keeping up-to-the-minute odds for George’s next team. Below are the latest lines.
