Lebedev vs Gassiev Boxing Odds

Lebedev vs Gassiev Boxing Odds – This Saturday night in Moscow, Russia promoter Aleksey Stashkov and his World Boxing group present an eight-fight boxing card that features two world title fights in the main events. The fights are set to air on Match TV in Russia.

IBF and WBA world cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (29-2) will put his IBF belt on the line against the challenge of undefeated Murat Gassiev (23-0). Lebedev is 37 years old, and he is best remembered for his May, 2013 loss to Guillermo Jones that left him bludgeoned beyond recognition. Few gave the tough Russian a chance of bouncing back from that loss, but to his credit, Lebedev has won four fights in a row since then. At the time of the Jones’ fight, Lebedev had held the WBA belt for a year-and-a-half, and in September, 2014 he won the belt again. In his last fight this past May, he added the IBF version of the world title with a KO of Victor Emilio Ramirez. He has been a part of the world title picture for the better part of the last five years.

None of that is likely to impress the 23-year-old Gassiev. At 6’3, Gassiev is going to be bigger and stronger than Lebedev. Gassiev has scored 17 stoppages in his 23 wins, so he certainly has the power to hurt Lebedev. Gassiev may merit a look as the underdog, though this line has been very close for a long time.

The 140-pound IBF world belt is being defended by champion Eduard Troyanovsky (25-0) as he faces the challenge of Julius Indongo (20-0). Troyanovsky is making the third defense of the belt he won back in November, 2015 when he stopped Argentina’s Cesar Rene Cuenca. Troyanovsky put the first loss on Cuenca’s record, as the Argentine was 48-0 prior to his loss to Troyanovsky. The Russian put an exclamation point on his win over Cuenca by defeating the former champion in a rematch, and he has stopped his last 15 opponents dating back to April, 2012.

As for Indongo, he is 33-years-old and he has spent his entire career fighting in his native Namibia. He has held the regional WBO African title for more than two years and he has defended the belt on several occasions. This fight in Russia marks the first time that Indongo has fought on the road. Troyanovsky will enter the bout as a massive favorite.
