Miguel Cotto (29-4, 32 KOs) defends his WBC, Lineal and The Ring MIddleweight titles against Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
This is Cotto’s first title defense since beating Sergio Martinez for the titles nearly a calendar year ago in a referee technical decision. Needless to say Cotto was on the upswing after losing back-to-back fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Austin Trout, both unanimous decisions.
Gaele is attempting to get his career back on track after getting TKOed by Gennady Golovkin in the third round in July, 2014. That was Geale’s last fight as well. Neither man has boxed in over 330 days so there’s no advantage there.
Cotto has a big money fight ahead of him with Canelo Alvarez if he can just take care of business tonight with Geale.
