The LSU Tigers have fought their way back from the dead with back-to-back SEC wins over ranked opponents in Florida and Auburn. They can’t afford a letdown when they travel this week. The Tigers will visit Ole Miss in what amounts to another must-win game. The Rebels are coming off their first win in a month but looked terrible in a pair of blowout losses to Alabama and Auburn. Ole Miss isn’t about to lay down for any opponent so if LSU is going to extend its impressive run it will need to be at its best on Saturday night.

Reasons To Bet On The LSU Tigers
The Tigers should be a confident team after a pair of big wins over tough SEC competition. Head coach Ed Orgeron will ensure that his team is focused and playing with a sense of urgency when they take on Ole Miss this week. Orgeron was the head coach of the Rebels from 2005-07 and this will be his first game back there as the head coach of another program. LSU will lean heavily on its No. 14 pass defense once again and if they perform at the level they have played at the past couple of weeks they should have a good chance at winning on the road. Meanwhile, the Tigers will need another strong performance out of running back Derrius Guice, who has been limited the past couple of weeks because of a knee injury. All signs point towards Guice being ready for Saturday’s contest and if he can play at a high level then LSU will have an excellent shot at extending its win streak in Mississippi.
Reasons To Bet On The Ole Miss Rebels
The Rebels will hope that quarterback Shea Patterson can pick up from where he left off in last week’s win over Vanderbilt when he threw for 351 yards and four touchdowns. Patterson has no problem carving up the Commodores defense but he will face a much tougher challenge against LSU this week. Ole Miss will attempt to establish its ground game with running back Jordan Wilkins with the hope that he can take some of the pressure off of Patterson. Wilkins rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown versus Vanderbilt last week. The Rebels were able to score points in bunches last week but they will need to do a better job defending if they are going to win this week. Ole Miss clearly wasn’t rattled following back-to-back blowout losses to Alabama and Auburn and they will have the home advantage once Saturday night rolls around.
Outlook
The LSU-Ole Miss betting line opened up at -7 and that’s where it currently sits, but we’ve seen lots of jumping around. The line has dipped as low as -6.5 at BetDSI and climbed back to -7. It’s gone back and forth between the two numbers multiple times. There has been a little more of a consensus on the total as the over-under opened up at 57.5 and has climbed to 59.5. Clearly, bettors seem to think that we’ll see an over in this spot – even though it’s a matchup of two offensively challenged teams.
LSU is rolling following a big win over Auburn but the fact that it was 20 points down in that game in the first place is cause for concern. The Tigers have pulled out close wins in each of the last two weeks but they have played down to their competition this season, including a loss at home to Troy. While LSU is more likely to win this game than not it’s hard to trust them to cover more than a touchdown on the road against an Ole Miss side that will use every week as an opportunity to prove itself. The Rebels will cover the seven-point spread at home. Look for LSU to end the week on a down note after two strong showings.
Prediction: Ole Miss +7
