Lucha Underground Recap: Pentagon Jr. Returns

Photo from El Rey Network

Last week on Lucha Underground, both the Trios Championships and the Lucha Underground Championship were defended (which seems to be a weekly thing now). Johnny Mundo, Jack Evans, and PJ Black were able to retain their Trios Championships with more dirty-handed tactics. To main event the evening, Matanza Cueto successfully defended his Lucha Underground Championship against a very impressive Cage.

Opening Segment
Black Lotus enters Dario Cueto’s office to warn Cueto about El Dragon Azteca Jr.’s intentions on killing Matanza Cueto. El Dragon Azteca Jr. found the location of where Dario Cueto keeps his monstrous brother, and Lotus was able to convince him to leave.

Cueto announces that Ultima Lucha is coming up in four weeks. At the big event, Black Lotus will face El Dragon Azteca Jr., and if she wins, she can take his mask.

Marty “The Moth” Martinez vs. Killshot
Before the match starts, Marty “The Moth” Martinez interrupts Melissa Santos’s introduction and calls out Killshot. Several weeks ago when these two faced each other, The Moth stole Killshot’s dog tags. Before the match tonight, he hung them on the ring post. After calling out Killshot, Killshot appears from behind Martinez, and a brawl ensues to start the match.

The two bitter enemies take their fight to outside of the ring, and end up getting a double count-out. Result (via double count-out): No Contest

After the match, Martinez ends the brawl with a German Suplex, and manages to escape with the dog tags in hand.

Video Package
After being arrested for pulling a gun on Joey Ryan, Mr. Cisco is in an interrogation room with Ryan, Cortez Castro, and their supervisor. Either Cisco has to help them, or he will rot in jail. Mr. Cisco does not give an answer, so it will be interesting to see what he decides.

PJ Black & Jack Evans vs. Drago & Aerostar (Nunchucks Match)
Before PJ Black and Jack Evans pursued the Trios Championship (along with their tag team partner, Johnny Mundo), they feuded with Drago and Aerostar. This feud would lead to Jack Evans calling himself “The Dragon Slayer.”

In a Nunchucks match, the only way to win is via pinfall or submission. The twist is that nunchucks are accessible all over the Temple, and are the only weapons that are legal.

Aerostar jumps off of the top of Dario Cueto’s office and leaves Evans and Black laid out at ringside. Drago brings Jack Evans into the ring, hits him practically everywhere with nunchucks, sprays mist in his face, and wraps him up in the Dragon’s Lair for the victory. Winners: Drago & Aerostar

Prince Puma, The Mack, Texano, Sexy Star, Son of Havoc, & Rey Mysterio vs. Fenix, Ivelisse, King Cuerno, Taya, Johnny Mundo, & Chavo Guerrero
Well, this is one way to get a lot of luchadores on one show. The winning team in this 6-on-6 tag team match will be in a 6-way match to determine who will face the Lucha Underground Champion at Ultima Lucha Dos.

Before Chavo Guerrero makes his way into the ring, Pentagon Jr. pulls up behind Guerrero in a wheelchair. Pentagon Jr. was put in the wheelchair because he suffered a back injury from the hands of Matanza Cueto several weeks ago. Pentagon Jr. gets out of the chair, showing that he is fully healed, and attacks Chavo Guerrero, ending in true Pentagon Jr. fashion, breaking Chavo Guerrero’s arm. After the assault, Dario Cueto exits his office and gives Pentagon Jr. an opportunity to replace Chavo Guerrero in this tag team match.

Johnny Mundo hits a Spanish Fly off of the top turnbuckle onto Prince Puma and covers the former Lucha Underground Champion for the win. Winners: Fenix, Ivelisse, King Cuerno, Taya, Johnny Mundo, & Chavo Guerrero

After the match, Catrina is seen in King Cuerno’s trophy room to resurrect Mil Muertes from his coffin.
