Johnny Football is looking to get back in the game. Johnny Manziel has flamed out spectacularly in two separate leagues, but he is hoping the third time will be the charm in the XFL. Manziel is looking to join the Houston franchise, where he would certainly sell tickets and drum up interest in the nascent league. Whether he would be successful is another matter though. Manziel was awful in the quarterback-friendly CFL, tossing four picks in the first half of his debut with the Montreal Alouettes, and he ended the season throwing more interceptions than touchdowns.

Lorenzo Fertitta has repeatedly expressed interest in purchasing an NFL team, and he will likely be a major player the next time a team is available. Fertitta was one of the owners of the UFC for 15 years, and he reportedly became a billionaire after the top MMA organization in the world was sold to new owners in 2016. He certainly has the capital to buy an NFL team, so it will be interesting to see which owner looks to sell next.

Joe Douglas is the new general manager of the New York Jets, and he seems ready to start making changes. ESPN draftnik Todd McShay told Rich Cimini that he may be taking a job in the team’s front office sometime in the near future. The two were teammates at the University of Richmond, and it seems likely that McShay would be responsible for evaluating collegiate talent in the same way he does for the Worldwide Leader.
ESPN Draft guru Todd McShay tells @RichCimini that new GM Joe Douglas is considering him for a spot in the front office. Interesting. They were teammates at Richmond. #nyj

The Houston Texans have wasted little time in moving on from Brian Gaine. The Texans are reportedly already conducting interviews for the vacancy, and it appears likely that a new general manager will be hired sometime in the next week. Ray Farmer is rumored to be the frontrunner, which would be interesting considering he has not been in a front office since 2016.
The #Texans, who fired GM Brian Gaine yesterday, are already doing interviews. Sources say they are interviewing former #Browns GM Ray Farmer for the vacant position today. Intriguing option.
