The No. 2 Duke Blue Devils defeated the No. 15 Iona Gaels, 89-67, on Thursday, March 15, in the the 2018 NCAA Tournament’s Round of 64. Duke covered the large spread as 20.5-point favorites while the game went just under the total of 156.5.
The Blue Devils will move on to face Rhode Island, which defeated Oklahoma Thursday, in the Round of 32. Odds for that matchup will soon be released by BetDSI Sportsbook, but we anticipate Duke, which is a favorite to come out of the Midwest region, will be a double-digit favorite against Dan Hurley’s squad.
Marvin Bagley III scored 22 points and collected seven rebounds to pace the Blue Devils on Thursday. Duke dominated in the paint and shot far better from outside; Duke hit 13 of 30 threes while Iona went only 5 for 24. The Blue Devils out-rebounded Iona, 39-29.
Iona’s odds to win the NCAA Tournament were as long as they come, with BetDSI pegging the Gaels at +100000 to cut down the nets in San Antonio. Duke entered the tournament with the second-best odds of winning the tournament, at +550.
