The San Antonio Spurs signed free agent Marcus Morris to a two-year, $20 million contract with a player option for the second year, his agency announced on its Instagram.
The 29-year-old spent the previous two years with the Boston Celtics, who got him in a bargain deal in 2017 as a part of the trade with the Detroit Pistons, sending guard Avery Bradley the other way.
Love what the Spurs pulled off adding Marcus Morris and DeMarre Carroll. Will be a contender now that there's no superteam. West is wide open, but deeper than ever. So are the Spurs. Go, Spurs, go.

Morris will likely be a starter in Gregg Popovich’s squad as he competes for the spot with Chimezie Metu, Donatas Motiejunas, and the No. 17 pick overall from the 2019 NBA Draft – Luka Samanic. The eight-year veteran began his career with the Houston Rockets but didn’t play a prominent role there. Morris’ career started to rise when he moved to the Phoenix Suns, averaging 10.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in the 2014-15 campaign before moving to the Detroit Pistons.
Morris started 53 of 75 games for the Celtics last season, averaging 13.9 points and a career-high 6.1 rebounds in 27.9 minutes per contest.
The Philadelphia native played college basketball with the Kansas Jayhawks where he spent three years between 2008 and 2011 and won a few honors along the way. Morris was the Big 12 Player of the Year (2011), was selected to the First-team All-Big 12 (2011), and the Consensus second-team All-American (2011). Following that excellent campaign, Marcus and his twin brother Markieff signed with a sports agent from Los Angeles, announcing they would enter the 2011 NBA Draft.
