The Miami Marlins had been historically bad through their first 35 or so games, but in Major League Baseball, almost every team has a hot stretch every now and then. The Marlins are getting their turn now. They beat the Detroit Tigers 6-3 on Wednesday night to extend a winning streak to five, the best in baseball at the moment. Elsewhere, the Yankees continue to lead the American League East but continue to have injury concerns, most recently with CC Sabathia headed to the injured list. On the other side of New York, the Mets also had to place two players on the IL, a big name (Robinson Cano) and a big early-season producer (Jeff McNeil).
The Tigers took a 3-0 lead at home against Miami, looking like the end of a short-lived Marlins winning streak. Not so fast.
Marlins have won 5 in a row
If you bet $100 last Friday on Miami to win and rolled it over during their streak, you’d now have $7,462!
The Fish have been an underdog every game this season and 120 straight games dating back to last season.

C.C. Sabathia collected his 3,000th career strikeout a couple of weeks ago and now hits the injured list. Ah, old age.
The injuries keep mounting for the #Yankees, who now place veteran lefty CC Sabathia on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation.

Meanwhile, in Queens, Robinson Cano finally ran out a ground ball — and it gave him a strained quad.
So Robinson Cano gets put on blast for not running out ground balls, is benched, told he needs to run out plays, runs out a play today…and leaves with left quad tightness.
You can’t make this stuff up.

But the Mets won their game Wednesday, in large part because of Rajai Davis’ arrival from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in the third inning in an Uber. Davis slammed a pinch-hit three-run homer later.
Rajai Davis arrived at Citi Field around the third inning today. He couldn’t find his way to the clubhouse. Didn’t stop him from hitting a three-run homer in his first at-bat with the Mets.

Finally, we had the Majors’ first triple play of the season last night. The White Sox turned the trick in a 9-4 victory over the Astros.
