McCoy Picks Panthers, Harrison, Slay Skip Lions Camp and More

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Gerald McCoy officially ended his multiple team flirtation Tuesday when he signed a one-year, $10.25 million deal with the Carolina Panthers. The contract came with a $4 million signing bonus. McCoy was cut early this offseason by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last season McCoy recorded 28 tackles, six for a loss and six sacks.

Harrison and Slay no-shows at Lions minicamp

It’s supposed to be a mandatory three-day minicamp, but defensive tackle Damon Harrison and cornerback Darius Slay aren’t showing up. Both men are looking for new contracts. Harrison still has two years left on his current deal and is slated to make $6.7 million this season. Slay, too, has two years to go, with a base salary of $12 million in 2019. Harrison recorded 81 tackles, nine for a loss and 3.5 sacks. Slay finished with 43 tackles, three interceptions and one defensive touchdown.

Peterson shows up at Cardinals minicamp

In spite of being stuck with a six-game suspension, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson is attending the team’s minicamp. Peterson had 54 tackles, two interceptions, five passes defended and one fumble recovery.
