McGregor vs Dos Anjos is Official – The Talk ‘n’ Shoot MMA Podcast is Back

McGregor vs Dos Anjos

The latest edition of the Talk’n’ Shoot MMA Podcast is back to ring in the New Year.  The UFC announced major plans for UFC 197, as Conor McGregor will seek to win the Lightweight title as he faces Rafael Dos Anjos and women’s Bantamweight champion Holly Holm returns to make her first title defense against Meisha Tate.  McGregor vs Dos Anjos and Holm vs Tate are probably the two biggest fights available to the UFC right now, and they are on the slate for August.

In some ways it is surprising that the UFC is breaking their usual formula and bringing both McGregor and Holm back on a fast track.  What is even more surprising is that both are in fights that are going to be big tests, and neither is assured a victory.  The Talk ‘n’ Shoot crew of Miguel Iturrate and Mike Davis break down both match-ups.

Is Conor McGregor’s end game a cross-over mega-money bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr?  The bottom line is that the chances to make the type of money that Mayweather made when he fought Pacquiao are very few and far between.  If Mayweather seeks a return to boxing, the fact is that he is going to have to take a pay cut, and even then, who is going to pay him $30 or $40 million dollars to come back and fight average competition?  Enter McGregor, who would probably bring such a widely different audience that the two would shatter the records May did with pac-man.

Closer on the calendar is TJ Dillashaw versus Dominick Cruz for the UFC Bantamweight title scheduled for UFC Fight Night 81 this coming Sunday, January 17th.  Dillashaw will be defending the belt against the challenge of Cruz, a former champion who never lost the belt but rather had to give it back due to injuries.

McGregor vs Dos Anjos and more, it is alright here in the latest edition on the Talk ‘n’ Shoot MMA Podcast.
