Miami Marlins – Atlanta Braves Preview – 09.12.2016

In the first of a three-game series between the Atlanta Braves (55-88) and the Miami Marlins (71-72) at Turner Field, Mike Foltynewicz (8-5, 4.16 ERA) and Andrew Cashner (5-11, 4.77 ERA) get the start. The game gets underway at 7:10 p.m. ET on Monday, Sep. 12 and will air on FSFL and FSSE.

In his last start, Foltynewicz pitched 6.0 innings, giving up one run, striking out eight and walking three in a 5-4 loss to the Nationals. Matt Kemp (.264, 75 Rs, 30 HRs, 97 RBIs, 1 SB) played well again yesterday, going 2 for 4 with one run. The Marlins were victorious over the Phillies 6-0 the last time Cashner pitched. He went 5.1 innings, allowing zero runs, striking out nine and walking two. Christian Yelich (.303, 71 Rs, 18 HRs, 88 RBIs, 8 SBs) has been doing well, going 2 for 4 yesterday with one RBI.

Miami earned its 11th shutout of the season in its last game. Atlanta has been shut out 12 times this season.

The Braves managed to give up four walks in their last game. They’ll have to pick it up against the Marlins who are coming in with a 32-13 record against opponents who give up that many walks or more.
