Minnesota Wild vs. St. Louis Blues Odds

Minnesota (+100) is currently the underdog to St. Louis (-120), and the Over/Under (O/U) has been placed at 6 goals (-125 for the over, +105 for the under).

Minnesota is 10-6 straight up (SU) and has netted 3.3 units for moneyline bettors this season. Through 16 regular season outings, eight of its games have gone over the total, while seven have gone under and just one has pushed. As the away team this season, the Wild are 5-4 SU.

Minnesota has converted on 18.9 percent of its power play chances this season, a figure that’s right around league average. On the other hand, it has the sixth-best penalty kill in the league, and it’s successfully killed off 84.7 percent of all penalties.

For the team as a whole, Minnesota has been penalized 4.5 times per game overall in the 2018-19 season, and 2.6 per game over its last five on the road. The team has been forced to defend opponent power plays just 8.4 minutes per game over their last 10 outings.

Averaging 29.9 saves per game with a .932 save percentage, Devan Dubnyk (7-5-2) has been the best option in goal for Minnesota this year. If it chooses to give him a rest, however, head coach Bruce Boudreau might go with Alex Stalock (3-1), who has a .905 save percentage and 2.73 goals against average this year.

Mikael Granlund and Zach Parise will both look to continue their strong seasons for the visiting Wild. Granlund has 17 points via nine goals and eight assists, and has recorded multiple points in three different games. Parise has six goals and nine assists to his credit (and has registered at least one point in 10 games).

On the other side of the ice, St. Louis is 6-8 straight up (SU) and has lost 3.8 units for moneyline bettors this year. Eight of its contests have gone over the total, while five have gone under and just one has pushed. It’s 5-5 SU as the home team thus far.

St. Louis has converted on 29.1 percent of its power play opportunities this season, a mark that’s good enough for fifth-best in the NHL. On the other hand, its penalty kill is ranked 11th overall, and it’s successfully killed off 81.6 percent of all opponent power plays.

St. Louis players have been penalized 4.1 times per game this season. Last year, that number was at 3.3, the third-lowest mark in the league. After serving an average of 7.7 penalty minutes per game a season ago the team has been forced to kill penalties for 8.6 minutes per contest this year.

Jake Allen (27.2 saves per game) has been the primary selection in goal for St. Louis. Allen has four wins, seven losses, and three OT losses to his name and has maintained a mediocre 3.99 goals against average and a poor .879 save percentage this year.

Ryan O’Reilly (eight goals, 12 assists) will lead the offensive attack for the Blues.
