Missouri Tigers – LSU Tigers Preview – 03.01.2016

The LSU Tigers (17-12) welcome the Missouri Tigers (10-19) to Pete Maravich Assembly Center as the regular season wraps up. Action begins at 9:00 pm ET on Tuesday, Mar. 1 and will air on SEC and ES3.

The Tigers were victorious over Florida 96-91 on Saturday. Antonio Blakeney led all scorers on the team with 32 points on 9-for-13 shooting. The Tigers, meanwhile, are coming off an 84-69 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday. Ryan Rosburg stood out for Missouri, accounting for 15 points, five rebounds, and one assist.

The Tigers look to build on their records of 17-12 Straight Up (SU) and 10-18 Against The Spread (ATS). They have been better ATS (7-3) than SU (2-8) over their last 10 games. The Tigers have no trouble scoring as they rank 25th in the nation in offense with 80.1 points per game. The Tigers are one of the best in Division I in terms of free throws made, making a superb 17.0 per game. LSU is one of the best passing teams in the nation with an average of 15.9 assists per game.

As for their opponent, the Tigers are a good bet so far, with a respectable record of 16-10-1 ATS. Their SU record, 10-19, hasn’t been quite as good. During the last 10 games, they averaged 78.6 PPG, above their 68.4 PPG season average. The last 10 games have really brought the worst out of the Tigers on the defensive end. They allowed 80.5 points per game during that span, which is higher than their season average of 72.4.

The conference rivals will be facing off in their first head-to-head contest of the season. When they last met the Tigers were winners, taking the head-to-head record to an even 2-2 SU. However, with a 3-1 record, LSU has the advantage ATS.
