MLB Betting: Updated Odds To Win The 2018 World Series

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is just over a month away and the same three American League teams continue to dominate the MLB. The Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Houston Astros rank 1-2-3 in the majors in wins with the Seattle Mariners right there with them as well. It’s no surprise that the AL is represented with each of the three favorites to win the World Series right now with the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs the top representatives from the National League. Here is a look at the updated 2018 World Series odds.

Pac-12, Heisman Candidates, College Football, Khalil Tate

While Houston has been the outright World Series favorite since the start of the season, the Yankees have caught up to them with both teams listed at +500 odds according to some sportsbooks. New York took two of three from the Astros in their most recent series and owns the best record in the AL at 42-19. Luis Severino has been absolutely outstanding including two wins and a 1.13 ERA in two meetings with Houston. The Yankees are now 12-2 in games that Severino starts. Meanwhile, the Astros have strung together five straight wins thanks in large part to an offense that has averaged just over 6.0 runs per game over that span. Houston and New York are on a collision course to meet in the AL Championship Series this season. For now, they are the co-favorites to win the World Series at +500 odds according to a number of sportsbooks.

One of the fastest risers on the board right now is the Seattle Mariners, which have won eight of their last 10 to improve to 41-24 – one game up on Houston for the best record in the AL West. Seattle keeps finding ways to win without Robinson Cano and the sportsbooks have responded by making them +1100 odds to win the World Series. Is that price too short to make them worth betting on? The Mariners will have to hold off the Astros in the AL West and even if they get in to the postseason they will need to get through Houston, New York and Boston just to get a chance to play in the World Series. At short odds, it might make sense to pass on Seattle as a World Series option.

Meanwhile, one team to keep an eye on is the NL West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona has won seven of its last 10 games overall and is two games up on both the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers at 35-29. Paul Goldschmidt is absolutely on fire with a 15-for-22 run over which he has 11 extra-base hits. The Diamondbacks need him to lead the way offensively to help provide a boost for an offense that ranks just 30th in the majors in batting average. A pitching staff that ranks fourth in the majors in ERA has played a big role in Arizona climbing to the top of the NL West and they definitely have the talent in their order to perform better offensively moving forward. At +2500 odds according to some sites, the Diamondbacks could be a sneaky valuable sleeper pick to contend for a World Series championship in the NL this season.
