MLB Lines: The Los Angeles Dodgers have the biggest payroll, not to mention expectations, in all of Major League Baseball but that has not been matched on the playing field or the betting board as results so far have been underwhelming. The Cincinnati Reds have spent all spring trying to dig out from a dreadful start that has put them under the .500 mark. The Cincinnati Reds will host the Los Angeles Dodgers at Great American Ball Park on Monday night with coverage on ESPN starting at 7:10 PM ET. The probable starting pitchers are right hander Dan Haren of the Dodgers and left hander Tony Cingrani of the Reds.
Busting Bankrolls
Only three teams in Major League Baseball lost more money on the betting board than the Los Angeles Dodgers. But the one aspect of the Dodgers that has brought betting success has been road games as they were 18-11 away from home with just 12 out of their 29 away games going over the total. The Dodgers ranked 13th for run production but were an impressive 7th for staff earned run average and 5th for quality starts.
In the Reds
The Cincinnati Reds were in the red to start the year and were a mediocre 13-13 at the Great American Ball Park. The Reds struggled on offense as they ranked 28th for run production, 24th for batting average, and 19th for home runs. The Reds also got good pitching as they ranked 10th for staff earned run average and 4th for quality starts.
The Pick
The Dodgers have been a strong road value and road teams always get a better price. When you add the solid Dodgers pitching and weak Reds hitting the play is LA and under the total!
