The Astros became the latest team to announce they’ll extend protective netting to each foul pole after an accident in the stands last week. Speaking of protection, the Cubs are glad Jonathan Lucroy became available just when they needed a veteran catcher. The Braves have a key injury, and the Diamondbacks made a big move in their bullpen. And, perhaps inevitably, frustration has boiled over in Baltimore.
By next season, at least nine teams will have protective netting extending from foul pole to foul pole.
Astros join White Sox, Nationals, Tigers, Blue Jays, Dodgers, Pirates, Rangers, and Royals as clubs that will have extended netting for next season. Brings us to nearly 1/3 the league. https://t.co/gKWmuROREG

The Cubs recently lost Willson Contreras to injury for several weeks, so Lucroy, whom the Angels released last week, is a perfect fit.
“He really knows how to run a game, to handle a pitching staff. He brings a lot of stablizing things to the table that will serve us well. We were very fortunate he was available.” -Theo Epstein on new Cubs catcher Jonathan Lucroy

Austin Riley has been a great surprise for the Braves this season and has given their lineup depth. They’ll have to go without him for at least a couple of weeks.
Brian Snitker says Austin Riley is having some knee issues. Happened when he was working out. He will he placed on the IL. They do not know exact injury or severity yet. #Braves

Greg Holland led the National League in saves just two years ago and was considered one of the game’s top closers at the start of this season. But the Diamondbacks finally decided they couldn’t deal with his struggles anymore.

Chris Davis has had a miserable season, and so have the Baltimore Orioles. Frustration is going from a simmer to a full-on boil in Baltimore.
