One of the most inspirational stories of the baseball season took another step forward Monday when Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco returned to a minor-league mound just months after doctors diagnosed him with leukemia. Elsewhere, the Yankees are looking to add to their bullpen. Meanwhile, another contender, the Atlanta Braves, lost a reliever for the season. The Astros hope Carlos Correa has only a minor injury, and the Cardinals got off to a good start in a big series in the NL Central.
Carrasco, who received his cancer diagnosis in early June, hit the upper 90s in one inning of work for Akron. Imagine the roar of the crowd if he pitches in Cleveland during the pennant race.
Carlos Carrasco texts the Indians’ team thread before, during and after every game. Soon, he might not have to.
“It would be an incredible comeback story. If anyone has it in them to do it, that man has the heart and the passion to get through anything.” https://t.co/GO68GO4nqR

Trevor Rosenthal returned from Tommy John surgery and was abjectly terrible in Washington. Can the Yankees make him a successful reclamation project?
We all laugh at the #Yankees picking up Trevor Rosenthal, but let’s not forget the team’s recent track record in making other teams’ throwaways shine.

Astros star shortstop Carlos Correa has back discomfort, the latest in a line of injuries that have hampered him the past two seasons.

You might not have heard of Jacob Webb, but he was one of the Braves’ more effective relievers this season. This is a blow for the Atlanta bullpen.
#Braves rookie RH Jacob Webb, placed on 60-day IL Monday with an elbow impingement, was shut down and will be re-evaluated.

Every series between two of the Cubs, Cardinals and Brewers is huge the rest of the way. Dakota Hudson threw six no-hit innings to lead St. Louis to a victory in the first game of this series over Milwaukee.
