DallasNews.com reported this addition to the story earlier:
Family-court records show that Hamilton’s ex-wife, Katie Hamilton, had sought a protective order earlier in October on behalf of one of the couple’s three children.
The 38 year-old former MLB All-Star turned himself in to a Tarrant County courthouse at 3:15pm CDT on Wednesday and has a bond set at $35,000. One of the conditions of his bond is that he cannot contact one of his daughters, which was later expanded to any child under 17.
CBS 11’s Jason Allen added this tweet to the story.
New details, from an arrest warrant affidavit:
One of Hamilton’s daughters said in late September, he threw a chair at her which broke and hit her leg. Also said he pinned her to the bed and hit her legs with an open hand and closed fist

While this story is still developing, it’s another mark in the long history of issues with the former number one overall pick from the 1999 MLB draft. Early in his professional career he struggled with drug and alcohol abuse. He was out of baseball from 2003 into 2006 after being suspended over failed drug tests and rehab attempts.
He ultimately cleaned up and made his MLB debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2007 before being traded to the Rangers and becoming a star in the game. During his career, he struggled off and on with continued relapses into to drug and alcohol abuse and was out of the game by 2015 at the age of 34.
The Texas Rangers recently inducted Hamilton into the organizational Hall of Fame this season, which unfortunately now will be a mark on the franchise.
