Motivation can go a long way, and Josh Donaldson’s mom had plenty of it to quit smoking. According to the free agent third baseman, he made a deal with his mom to buy her a Maserati if she indeed quit.
“Two years later,” Donaldson said in an Instagram post, “here is her early Christmas present.”

Donaldson filmed himself pulling up in the luxury whip in front of his mom, and she went ballistic. She immediately began screaming and jumped in her son’s arms after seeing her new shiny ride.
“Trust me you are going to want to watch this,” Donaldson said.
Whatever Donaldson paid for the car, he’s almost sure to make that money back as he expects to sign a new contract this winter.
The 34-year-old right hander hit 37 home runs, four shy of his career high of 41, and batted in 94 runs for the Atlanta Braves in 2019.
With former Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon now off the market, Donaldson could be considered the top position player available, which could set him up with a nice payday for 2020 and beyond.
