Twins is just a team nickname for the ballclub in Minnesota, but it had a more literal meaning Tuesday night. After Minnesota closer Taylor Rogers closed out his team’s victory over the White Sox in Chicago, he had a special moment. Cameras captured him watching on a clubhouse TV as his twin brother, Tyler Rogers, made his MLB debut with the San Francisco Giants.
Like his twin brother, Tyler also threw a 1-2-3 inning, though it came in a 3-2 Giants loss.
They are the 10th pair of twins to both reach the Major Leagues.
Really special moment in the #MNTwins clubhouse tonight.

A family story
Taylor Rogers has been with the Twins since 2016, when he was 25 years old. When he got the call up to the bigs, his first call was to his twin brother, Tyler.
It took Tyler three more years to make his debut, but when he did, his first call was naturally to Taylor.

Two pretty good pitchers
Taylor Rogers has become the Twins’ primary closer this season. He has 21 saves and a 2.47 ERA with 76 strikeouts in 58-1/3 innings pitched.
Tyler has a much more pronounced submarine delivery and isn’t yet in closer territory, but if Tuesday night’s debut is any indication, he might have a bright future in a big-league bullpen, too.
And he’ll have a huge fan in another clubhouse.
“We’re different,” Taylor Rogers said, according to MLB.com. “Just because we’re twins doesn’t mean we have to be compared to each other. We have different paths. He did it all himself. He stuck with it, and persevered and I’m just super happy for him.”
Here is MLB.com’s complete list of twins to both reach the big leagues.
• Taylor (2016-19) and Tyler (2019) Rogers
• Jose (1985-2001) and Ozzie (1989-93) Canseco

• Marshall (1981-83) and Mike (1977-1980) Edwards

• George (1909-10) and Bill (1912) Hunter
• Bubber (1920-35) and Claude (1921-29) Jonnard

Scott Rogers sat in the stands in SF and watched on his phone as one of his twin sons, Taylor, saved the game for Minnesota. Then he looked up and watched his other twin son, Tyler, pitch a perfect inning in his major league debut. “It’s a dream come true,” the fire chief said.
