MLB News: Yu Darvish Trolls Justin Verlander With Tweet During Astros World Series Collapse

Well good morning, Mr. Verlander. In addition to now being 0-4 with a 5.67 ERA in World Series play, you’re now the target of a Yu Darvish diss on twitter.

While we wait to see what Verlander’s spouse Kate Upton says in retaliation to suddenly humorous Darvish, let’s take a look at what unfolded during the Houston Astros’ World Series game two blowout loss. Eventually, the Astros lost the game 12-3 in embarrassing fashion at home. Still, that wasn’t the story here.

Looking back at a Darvish directed diss, Verlander trolled his fellow pitcher for an awkward slide trying to stretch a double out in April of 2018 for the Chicago Cubs. Then, Darvish’s memory struck at just the right time as Kurt Suzuki hit a home run off the train tracks from a Verlander delivery.

Therefore, here’s what Darvish said, which is exactly what Verlander said to him at one time. Now, the roles are reversed; the tweets immortalized forever.

“Justin, not doing a lot here to dispel the whole pitchers aren’t athletes thing.”

Of course, Darvish is referring to the awkward attempt Verlander made at fielding a Ryan Zimmerman chopper early in game two. Furthermore, Verlander flailed on the ground while throwing the ball directly off his own leg. In a word, it was awful.

Still, nothing was quite as bad as the eventual pounding that Washington delivered to Houston in game two; which was supposed to be the big even-up game of the series.

Suddenly, the Nationals have moved from heavy underdogs to looking like they could pulverize the Astros in just a few more nights. Certainly, the Astros won’t rollover. It just appears that Washington is hot and pushing all the right buttons at the moment.

Finally, Yu Darvish has the last word on Verlander. Even if it took 544 days of waiting, karma arrived right at Verlander’s doorstep. In this case, it was a grounder that rolled to his right; third base side.
