Memorial Day weekend is a wonderful tradition in Major League Baseball. It’s a time for barbecues, baseball, beer and friends. But it’s also a time to remember those who have fallen in service of our country, and MLB is quick to remind its fans of the holiday’s true reason. That includes touching in-game ceremonies and social media posts. Elsewhere, Gatorade baths after walk-off wins and best friends supporting their teammate’s first home run are part of today’s top social posts across baseball.
Every ballpark that hosts a game this Memorial Day will have a tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We honor them.
We honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives to protect this country.

If you get the walk-off hit, you get the Gatorade bath. Them’s the rules.

Sometimes you see a kid get the silent treatment from his dugout after his first career hit or home run. Yeah, that was never gonna happen here with Lourdes Gurriel and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who couldn’t contain themselves after longtime minor-league teammate Cavan Biggio went deep for the first time.
The journey begins!

And now for something completely different. This has to still stand as the worst first pitch in history, right?
5 years ago today, 50 Cent threw a bad first pitch.
Like, real bad.https://t.co/bcdW8k44tl pic.twitter.com/zNtSslvAXt
