Baseball is insignificant in light of the death of the Angels’ Tyler Skaggs in a Dallas-area hotel room on Monday afternoon, so baseball’s social media universe was understandably muted. Except for one topic, that is: Skaggs. Teammates like Mike Trout and old friends like Trevor Bauer led the chorus of dozens of Major Leaguers and every team that sent out a social media post mourning the loss of Skaggs and offering condolences to his family and the Angels. With that in mind, today’s top Major League Baseball posts are entirely a tribute to Skaggs. RIP.

Skaggs, 27, was liked by everyone he came across. His death is a tragedy that will be felt for a long time.

In Anaheim, fans built a makeshift memorial outside Angel Stadium as the Angels fanbase mourned, too soon after they lost another young pitcher, Nick Adenhart, in 2009.

Giancarlo Stanton and Justin Bour were Marlins teammates of Jose Fernandez when he died. Stanton offers advice to the grieving Angels, and for Bour, it must feel like a nightmare all over again.
