MLB Playoff Betting Props Released As Opening Day Approaches

Giancarlo Stanton

Major League Baseball is getting ready to kick off its season, which means now is the best time to bet the futures. A new wave of these season-long baseball bets have been posted as BetDSI Sportsbook has opened up lines for which MLB teams will make the playoffs. There are ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ options for each team.

The Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Indians are the biggest favorites to get to the playoffs at -1100, with Washington coming in next at -700. This shouldn’t be a major surprise as the Astros are the defending World Series champions. Meanwhile, the Dodgers would love another shot at Houston after losing in the World Series. Both teams are loaded. The Cleveland Indians are considered far and away the best team in the American League Central, which explains their odds.

The New York Yankees at -400, the Chicago Cubs at -360 and Boston at -310 round out the major favorites. The Yankees made the biggest splash in the offseason as they picked up National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton from the fire-sale Miami Marlins. The duo of Stanton and reigning American League Rookie of the Year Aaron Judge is something that a lot of baseball fans are looking forward to. That gives the Yankees what many consider to be the best batting lineup in the MLB.

There are a few interesting MLB teams if you’re looking for a little value. For example, San Francisco is +170 for “Yes” on making the playoffs and they made a few moves in the offseason. The Giants picked up former National League MVP Andrew McCutchen from Pittsburgh and Evan Longoria from Tampa Bay. While these players aren’t in their prime anymore, they can definitely add something to an offense. The loss of stud starter Madison Bumgarner to a wrist injury hurts their chances, though.

The Toronto Blue Jays are at +250 for a “Yes”, which makes them a bit of a long shot. The Blue Jays battled injuries all season in 2017. If Josh Donaldson can stay healthy, he can get back to his MVP form and the Blue Jays have a solid rotation, they could have a chance.

The Los Angeles Angels are a very interesting team at +145 for a “Yes” to make the playoffs. While they shouldn’t count on catching Houston in the American League West, a wild card berth could be in the cards. Mike Trout had a few injuries last season but should be ready to go. Also, the Angels won the rights to Shohei Ohtani, a Japanese superstar who can hit and pitch. Ohtani struggled doing both in the spring as he gets used to the MLB but if he figures it out, the Angels should be in the running for a playoff spot.
