The dominoes have started to fall in terms of the 2017 MLB trade deadline. The Chicago Cubs made their move with Jose Quintana and that has seemingly lit a fire under them. As for the New York Yankees, they’re hoping that their trade with the Chicago White Sox will change their momentum. The Arizona Diamondbacks also took at shot by getting the power right-handed hitter that they need with J.D. Martinez. All of that has added up to some changes in the MLB power rankings. Here is a look at where the teams stand this week. All stats and standings are prior to the games on Thursday, July 20th.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers lead the National League West by 11 games after sweeping Miami and the Chicago White Sox on the road, and now return home to host Atlanta and Minnesota. Corey Seager hit .350 with two homers and four RBIs as a team as the Dodgers hit .304 as a team. The staff had a 1.67 ERA this week, with Clayton Kershaw and Alex Wood both throwing scoreless starts through a combined 13.0 innings of work.
2. Houston Astros

The Astros pace the American League West by 15.5 games after wining two of three at home against Minnesota, but they lost two of three at home against Seattle. The next week will feature trips to Baltimore and Philadelphia. Jose Altuve hit ..423 with a homer and two RBIs, but the Astros had a 4.09 ERA as a staff. Charlie Morton split his two starts over the week, posting an ERA of 6.17.
3. Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox lead the AL East by three games as they split four games at home with the New York Yankees, then they won the first two of three in a four-game set against Toronto. Next, it is off to visit the Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle. Dustin Pedroia batted .379 with a homer and eight RBIs this week, while David Price and Chris Sale both threw scoreless outings over 15.0 innings as the Red Sox had a team ERA of 2.01.
4. Washington Nationals

The Nationals lead the NL East by 11.5 games after sweeping four games in Cincinnati, and then splitting a two-game set in Los Angeles against the Angels. Washington heads to Arizona before returning to host Milwaukee. Anthony Rendon and Bryce Harper combined for a .525 average this week, along with eight homers and 18 RBIs. The Nationals also got scoreless starts from Max Scherzer and Tanner Roark, posting a 3.06 ERA as a staff.
5. Cleveland Indians

The Indians lead the AL Central by a half-game after they were swept in Oakland, and then they lost two of three in San Francisco. Next, the Indians host Toronto, then they have a make-up game at home against Cincinnati before the Angels come to town. The Indians hit .203 this week, although Francisco Lindor hit .333 with a pair of RBIs. Josh Tomlin got the week’s lone win, allowing three runs in 7.1 innings of a victory in San Francisco.
6. Chicago Cubs

The Cubs trail Milwaukee by 1.5 games in the NL Central after sweeps in Baltimore and Atlanta, and now they’re home to host St. Louis and the White Sox. The Cubs, who hit .316, got a .500 average along with two homers and six RBIs from Javier Baez. Jose Quintana tossed seven scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts in his Cubs debut, a win over Baltimore.
7. New York Yankees

The Yankees trail Boston by three games in the AL East after splitting four on the road against the Red Sox, then they lost two of three in Minnesota. Next, it is off to Seattle and then back home for two games against Cincinnati. Didi Gregorius hit .296 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs this week, although the Yankees hit just .239 as a team. C.C. Sabathia threw six scoreless innings of two-hit ball in a win in Boston as the Yankees had a 2.73 ERA.
8. Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks are 11.0 games back of the Dodgers in the NL West after getting swept in Atlanta, and then they have split the first two of their three-game set in Cincinnati. The Diamondbacks will come home to host Washington and Atlanta next. Paul Goldschmidt hit. 368 with a homer and five RBIs over the week, although Arizona hit just .246 as a team. The Diamondbacks had a 4.98 ERA this week, but Robbie Ray got the week’s lone win by allowing two runs in six innings of a victory in Cincinnati.
9. Colorado Rockies

The Rockies trail the Dodgers by 11.0 games, although they’re ahead of Arizona by a half-game in th NL West after dropping two of three in New York against the Mets. However, they rebounded to sweep San Diego at home and next, the Rockies host Pittsburgh and then head to St. Louis. Gerardo Parra, Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado combined to hit .493, nine homers and 23 RBIs over the week to lead a lineup that hit .341 overall. The Rockies had a 6.92 ERA as a pitching staff, but they got two more saves from Greg Holland, who now leads the major leagues with 30 saves.
10. Milwaukee Brewers

World Series Championship Odds: +3300
The Brewers enter the power rankings for the first time this season as they lead the NL Central by 1.65 games after winning two of three at home over Philadelphia. However, the Brewers have lost the first three of a four-game series in Pittsburgh and next, they’ll head to Philadelphia and Washington. Travis Shaw hit .292 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs as the Brewers hit just .250 this week. The Brewers also got a strong week in relief from Jacob Barnes as he was 1-0 with a pair of holds in theree three appearances, throwing 3.0 scoreless innings of work.
