The MLS fantasy season continues this weekend as we’ve reached Week 29. There’s an absolutely loaded schedule for Saturday, so it should be a fun day for those playing the MLS fantasy dailies. There will be 12 teams in action and that will mean plenty of options to choose from when it comes to building the perfect winning fantasy lineup. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings MLS daily fantasy leagues.
GK: Alex Bono, Toronto FC
Salary: $4,000
Toronto FC had its seven-game undefeated streak ended in a 1-0 loss to the Montreal Impact but they will be in a favorable position to bounce back against the Chicago Fire on Saturday. Chicago has turned some heads with points in three of their last four games but the Fire are still tied for the worst record in the Eastern Conference and they should have trouble getting one by Bono with a tough TFC defense in front of him. Toronto FC has allowed the fewest goals in the Eastern Conference this season, giving up just 28 in 27 games, so you have to figure that this is a solid MLS fantasy option.
D: Drew Moor, Toronto FC
Salary: $3,900
After locking in Bono based on his numbers and a favorable matchup, it only makes sense to roll with at least one value pick from the Toronto defense. Moor has been solid defensively and he has shown enough flashes at the offensive end to see the upside with this MLS fantasy pick.
D: Walker Zimmerman, FC Dallas
Salary: $3.700
FC Dallas is heating up following back-to-back wins and they will be in a favorable position to build on their strong play with a favorable matchup against Colorado. The Rapids have gone four straight games without a win and the FC Dallas defense should be able to keep them in check with Zimmerman in the mix at the back end.
M: Mauro Diaz, FC Dallas
Salary: $10,300
Diaz should also play an important role in the FC Dallas midfield as he looks to build on his impressive numbers so far this season. Diaz is tied for third in the MLS with 11 assists on the season behind only Sacha Kljestan of the New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco, and there is a good chance he adds to that total as one of the top midfield options on the board. FC Dallas has managed to net 45 goals in 28 games so far this season. No team in the Western Conference has managed to score more than that.
M: Marco Delgado, Toronto FC
Salary: $4,500
Delgado will serve as the perfect compliment to Diaz as a very reasonably priced midfield option that will undoubtedly be in the mix up front for TFC this weekend. Delgado has emerged as a reliable fantasy midfielder and we like his upside for Toronto’s matchup with the Fire.
F: David Villa, New York City FC
Salary: $12,100
Villa has made his mark for New York City FC as he is now tied with New York Red Bulls’ forward Bradley Wright-Phillips for the most goals in the MLS with 17. Villa will get his opportunity to move ahead of one of his rivals when they take on New England on Saturday and we feel confident in him as our top striker option this week.
F: Jozy Altidore, Toronto FC
Salary: $7,900
There is a good chance we would have turned to the current MLS points leader Sebastian Giovinco if he was healthy this week but since he is injured we will turn to a forward with an opportunity to make a major impact in Altidore. The veteran forward will have an even bigger role for Toronto with Giovinco sidelined and at just under $8K he should be a solid option up front.
FLEX: Michael Parkhurst, Columbus
Salary: $3,600
With just $3.6K left over to spend on our final FLEX position we will turn to a reliable defender option in Parkhurst to fill out our lineup. The Crew will have a favorable matchup against a Vancouver side that is winless over its last eight games and he fits our lineup perfectly as a value pick.
