The Major League Soccer season continues with five games on the schedule for Saturday night. That means plenty of options to choose from when playing in DraftKings MLS fantasy tournaments. We took the time to break down the rosters in order to find the perfect balance between star talent and strong value plays. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings MLS fantasy leagues.
GK: Alex Bono, Toronto FC
Salary: $4,700
Bono posted his second-consecutive clean sheet victory in a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Wednesday and he will have a decent shot at making it three in a row on Saturday against the New England Revolution. Bono is still available at a very reasonable price and that makes him that much more attractive in DraftKings tournaments as TFC currently owns the best goals allowed mark in the Eastern Conference with only 23 conceded in 22 games this season.
D: Drew Moor, Toronto FC
Salary: $3,900
Moor showed that he can contribute at the offensive end of the pitch as well with a point in last weekend’s win over the Columbus Crew and while he isn’t a lock to find the score sheet again this Saturday he is definitely worth taking a chance on. The prospect of a bonus for a clean sheet win makes Moor that much more enticing, especially since he is available for less than $4K in DraftKings tournaments.
D: Victor Cabrera, Montreal
Salary: $3,900
The Montreal Impact has recorded at least a point in eight of its last nine games and should have no problem extending that run when they take on the Houston Dynamo on Saturday. Cabrera should play the full 90 minutes for Montreal and at under $4K, he is an excellent tandem fit with Moore that allows us to save some money for other areas on our roster where we will need it more.
M: Hernan Bernadello, Montreal
Salary: $4,300
Bernadello made his mark as a substitute for the Impact when he came off the bench to score their lone goal in a 1-1 draw with DC United. His quick strike should be rewarded when Montreal takes on the Dynamo on Saturday and as long as he is in the starting XI he should be a strong value play at just $4.3K in MLS fantasy tournaments.
M: Marco Delgado, Toronto FC
Salary: $4,300
Delgado is another strong value play at just $4.3K, as he continues to start for Toronto FC. New England’s 36 goals conceded so far this season is tied for the second-most allowed among MLS Eastern Conference teams so Delgado should have his share of opportunities to make his mark on the score sheet on Saturday.
F: Sebastian Giovinco, Toronto FC
Salary: $14,000
Giovinco has left his mark for Toronto FC in each of their last two weekend games with a hat trick in their 4-1 win over DC United a couple of weeks ago and another three-point game against Columbus last weekend. We will hope that trend continues this Saturday with a favorable matchup at home against New England as we lock in the highest-priced player on the board in DraftKings MLS fantasy tournaments.
F: Joao Plata, Real Salt Lake
Salary: $7,900
Our smart value selections at the defender and midfield positions allow us to spend big on a complimentary forward to pair with Giovinco up front and Plata is the perfect option at just under $8K. Plata leads Real Salk Lake in assists with seven and currently ranks second on the team in goals with six. RSL has a favorable matchup against a Chicago Fire side that currently sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference so Plata should have a good opportunity to add to his totals this weekend.
FLEX: Kevin Doyle, Colorado
Salary: $7,000
The fact that we still have $7K left over to spend on our final FLEX position even with Giovinco and Plata already locked in is a good spot to be in and we will capitalize by locking in the leading scorer for the Rapids. Colorado has just one win in its last six games but that should make them overdue heading in to their matchup with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Doyle is a strong MLS fantasy pick to break through and leave his mark on the score sheet this weekend.
