The Major League Soccer season continues with three games on the schedule and while there is a limitation on the number of rosters to choose from when building a fantasy roster there are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to finding the perfect DraftKings tournament to enter. That includes the MLS $2K Striker that will feature a guaranteed $2,000 on the line for just a $3 entry. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings MLS Fantasy Leagues.
GK: Jesse Gonzalez, FC Dallas
Salary: $4,100
FC Dallas bounced back from its embarrassing loss to Houston with a big win over the Montreal Impact, with Gonzalez making two saves to preserve the clean sheet in a 2-0 victory. Dallas will look to make it two in a row when they visit DC United this week and we are banking on another strong performance from Gonzalez.
D: Matt Hedges, FC Dallas
Salary: $3,100
Hedges isn’t going to score goals, but he played the full 90 minutes for FC Dallas again in last week’s win and should produce a strong fantasy score this week.
D: Ryan Hollingshead, FC Dallas
Salary: $3,000
Hollingshead is another relatively inexpensive defender option that should play the full 90 minutes versus DC United. He doesn’t have much offensive upside either, but a potential clean sheet bonus could make him and Hedges worth taking a chance on.
D: Jose Goncalvez, New England
Salary: $2,900
Goncalves and New England will be in tough against New York City FC, but the fact that he is available at under $3K makes him another sleeper option worth taking a shot on in order to spend big at more important positions.
M: Mauro Diaz, FC Dallas
Salary: $7,200
The money that we saved at the defender positions allows us to spend big on what we feel is the top midfielder option on the board in Diaz. The star midfielder for FC Dallas was all over the field in last week’s win and he should continue to produce after recording three points in three games so far this season.
M: Pedro Morales, Vancouver
Salary: $5,400
Morales has made a tremendous impact out of the gate for the Whitecaps with three goals and an assist in just three games. Vancouver will need him at his best when it hosts Houston on Saturday night and there is a very good chance he will extend his point streak in that game.
M: Andrea Pirlo, New York City FC
Salary: $5,200
Pirlo has been held to four shots on target in three games for New York City FC, but the veteran midfielder is an elite talent and it is only a matter of time before he breaks through with a strong performance. We will put our money on this weekend’s game against New England as the game in which he finally breaks through with at least a point.
F: Octavio Rivero, Vancouver
Salary: $5,400
Rivero has been held off the score sheet so far this season for Vancouver, but it has not been for a lack of trying. Rivero has nine shots on goal and as long as he continues to put balls on net he is bound to break through eventually in MLS fantasy.
F: Maximilliano Urruti, FC Dallas
Salary: $5,100
Urruti scored the second goal for FC Dallas in last week’s win over the Impact and he came close to a second goal with four shots in that game. Urruti will have plenty of opportunities to add to his goal total against DC United so have hi min your lineup.
FLEX: Kelyn Rowe, New England
Salary: $5,200
Rowe has been held without a point through his first three games for New England, but he has four shots and has helped create several opportunities for his teammates. He isn’t the most expensive option on the board either so it’s worth taking a chance on him for the same price we locked Pirlo in at for MLS fantasy.
FLEX: Victor Ulloa, FC Dallas
Salary: $3,200
Ulloa had a strong performance for FC Dallas last week and even though he didn’t get a point he showed enough upside to make him worth plugging in to our lineup this week. The fact that he is available at just over $3K makes him a good value play with decent upside in MLS fantasy.
