MLS Fantasy: The Optimal Daily Fantasy Lineup For Week 3

The Major League Soccer season continues this weekend with six games on the schedule for Saturday. Fans will have the opportunity to cash in on the action with a full slate of tournaments on DraftKings. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings MLS Fantasy Leagues.

GK: Jesse Gonzalez, FC Dallas

Salary: $3,900

FC Dallas is coming off a brutal 5-0 loss against Houston, but there are plenty of reasons to expect them to bounce back with a better effort this weekend. The Montreal Impact will have a long way to travel for this game and they should run in to a much stingier defense than the one that showed up for FC Dallas last week. Gonzalez earned a clean sheet win in his season debut against Philadelphia and we are banking on him earning another this weekend.

D: Kellyn Acosta, FC Dallas

Salary: $3,400

Montreal’s strong start is among the biggest reasons why there are so many strong plays available on the FC Dallas roster and we will stick with them for our top defensive slot. Acosta has the highest upside of their defenders and we expect a bounce back performance from him this weekend.

D: Jordan Allen, Real Salt Lake

Salary: $3,000

Real Salt Lake will look to push its undefeated run to three straight games to open the season when they visit Portland this weekend. Allen is off to a solid start and he should be a strong play at just $3K for Saturday.

D: Ryan Hollingshead, FC Dallas

Salary: $2,800

It didn’t take long for us to turn back to FC Dallas for another strong option on the back end. Hollingshead is available at under $3K and that makes him an excellent value play for Saturday’s DraftKings tournaments.

M: Mauro Diaz, FC Dallas

Salary: $7,000

Diaz is the main man in the middle for an FC Dallas attack that has the potential to be among the best in the MLS so we are willing to spend a little more to lock him in to our lineup for Saturday. Diaz has plenty of quality attacking options and they won’t be shutout again this week in MLS fantasy.

M: Andreas Ivanshitz, Seattle

Salary: $4,800

Ivanschitz has quietly become an integral piece in the Sounders’ attack and he is still available at a very reasonable price. Seattle and Vancouver are both coming off back-to-back losses to open the season and that should lead to a strong sense of urgency from both teams when they meet this weekend.

M: Mike Magee, LA Galaxy

Salary: $3,800

The Galaxy followed up an impressive 4-1 win over DC United with a 1-0 loss to Colorado. So which team will show up this weekend? San Jose has won two in a row, but LA should be able to bounce back with a better performance than what they brought to the table last week and Magee could factor in to the score sheet as a strong value option in the midfield.

F: Kei Kamara, Columbus

Salary: $9,400

The money that we saved at some of the other positions on our roster allows us to spend big on our top forward option and Kamara is a no brainer. There is a very good chance that the Crew’s star striker will lead the league in goals this season so he is worth spending big on for Saturday’s MLS fantasy contests.

F: Max Urruti, FC Dallas

Salary: $4,900

Urruti is a smart striker that will be on the receiving end of Diaz’s passes this weekend and should help get FC Dallas back on track with a big win at home.

FLEX: Alvas Powell, Portland

Salary: $3,900

With $7K left over for our final two FLEX spots it makes sense to pick up a couple of players with high upside. Powell was consistently one of the better fantasy defenders in the MLS last season so he fits in nicely here.

FLEX: AJ DeLaGarza, LA Galaxy

Salary: $3,100

DeLaGarza played the full 90 minutes in each of LA’s first two games and there is every reason to think he will be on the field for the full match against San Jose this weekend. He doesn’t have the same upside that Powell provides, but the price is right for the Galaxy defender as the best option left with the remaining $3.1K we have left over for this final position on our MLS fantasy roster.
