With only six points separating first from sixth in the MLS Eastern Conference and second from eighth in the Western Conference, every game will be that much more important the rest of the way. There was plenty of scoring this past weekend with only two teams managing to record clean sheet wins. While a number of marquee forwards made an impact, there were plenty of lesser known names that had a say in fantasy. Here is a look at the top individual fantasy performances based on position from the MLS this past weekend.
GK: Evan Bush, Montreal
Bush was one of two goalkeepers that recorded clean sheet wins over the weekend and his performance was the best among them. He made four saves in a 2-0 win over DC United. Montreal has allowed just one goal over three straight wins and is undefeated in its last six, so it only makes sense for Daily Fantasy League players to continue to roll with Bush until the impact slow down. Honourable Mention: David Bingham, San Jose; Donovan Ricketts, LA Galaxy
D: Angelino, New York City FC
There were a number of fantasy defenders that played well at their own end but only a couple managed to find the stat sheet. Angelino was on, picking up an assist in NYCFC’s 2-1 win over Vancouver. Angelino has been limited to four assists in 13 games but his lone point against the Whitecaps was enough to put him over the top.
D: Damien Perquis, Toronto FC
Perquis was the other MLS defender that managed to grab a point this past weekend in Toronto FC’s 3-2 win over Chicago. Perquis has only two points in 22 games this season. They have come in the last two games after he scored in a 3-1 win over Colorado last week, so don’t expect him to keep producing at this current pace. Honourable Mention: Ambroise Ayongo, Montreal; Shaun Francis, San Jose
M: Frank Lampard, New York City FC
NYCFC has climbed back in to the Eastern Conference playoff hunt with three straight wins. The team’s biggest stars are starting to develop some chemistry with Lampard and David Villa both scoring in a 2-1 win over Vancouver. Lampard has the talent to put up quality fantasy numbers week in, week out and he proved it this past weekend as the top fantasy midfielder.

M: Lee Nguyen, New England
New England has earned at least a point in seven of its last eight games and Nguyen was the biggest reason they got one against Philadelphia. He scored the Revolution’s lone goal in a 1-1 draw. Nguyen continues to shine in the New England midfield and this week he edged out Orlando City’s Kaka and Michael Bradley of Toronto FC as the second-best MLS fantasy midfielder. Honourable Mention: Kaka, Orlando City SC; Michael Bradley, Toronto FC
F: Cyle Larin, Orlando City SC
It took a while for Orlando City’s star forward to break the MLS rookie scoring record. At least he made sure he did it in style. Larin scored a hat trick to reach 14 goals on the season, which is three more than the previous rookie record of 11 set by Damani Ralph in 2011. Larin didn’t score the game-winning goal in the 5-2 win over the New York Red Bulls but his three goals on as many shots was enough to make him the top scoring fantasy forward for the weekend.

F: Fanendo Adi, Portland
Gilberto, Didier Drogba and Sebastian Giovinco all earned honourable mention for strong performances over the weekend but Adi edged them all out on our list of the top fantasy forwards. He had two goals including the game winner on four shots in a 2-1 win over the Columbus Crew. Portland ended a four-game winless drought with the victory and they will certainly need Adi to continue to step up as the fight for a playoff spot in the Western Conference down the final stretch. Honourable Mention: Gilberto, Chicago; Didier Drogba, Montreal; Sebastian Giovinco, Toronto FC
