The MLS season continues with six games on the schedule for Saturday, which means plenty of options when it comes to building the perfect lineup in DraftKings MLS fantasy tournaments. We took the time to break down the rosters in order to find the perfect combination of star power and sleeper value picks. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings MLS fantasy tournaments.
GK: Alex Bono, Toronto FC
Salary: $5,400
Toronto FC extended its MLS undefeated streak to seven games with a 2-1 win over Orlando City SC in their last outing. They should be in excellent position to make it eight in a row when they host Montreal on Saturday. TFC has not allowed more than a single goal in any game during its undefeated run and we are banking on that trend continuing against the Impact.
D: Drew Moor, Toronto FC
Salary: $3,900
Moor has quietly been solid for Toronto FC, flashing some offense with three goals while thriving in his own end as one of the club’s best defenders. Moor is the best priced TFC defender on the board at under $4K so he should be a smart bet for Saturday. Toronto FC has given up just 27 goals this year in 26 games.
D: Aubrey David, FC Dallas
Salary: $3,400
David has emerged as a strong sleeper pick for this week based largely on his incredibly low price tag. David doesn’t have any offensive upside but he played the full 90 minutes in FC Dallas’ last game and the potential to feature in a favorable matchup versus a Houston side that sits at the bottom of the Western Conference standings makes him an intriguing play.
M: Patrick Nyarko, DC United
Salary: $4,800
Nyarko is an excellent value play heading in to DC United’s matchup with a Chicago Fire team that currently sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. Nyarko leads all DC United midfielders with five points on the campaign and there is a good chance he adds to his total this weekend. DC United has been one of the feeble offensive teams in the MLS fantasy this year, scoring just 27 goals in 25 games. No team in the Eastern Conference has scored less than them.
M: Will Johnson, Toronto FC
Salary: $4,600
Johnson’s emergence in the Toronto FC midfield means we can lock him in here at a very reasonable price and save some money to spend big on our forward positions. Johnson leads all TFC midfielders with six points on the season and is available at a very reasonable $4.6K.
F: Sebastian Giovinco, Toronto FC
Salary: $14,500
Giovinco has been on an absolute tear for Toronto FC since their win streak began. The Italian striker now leads the MLS with 16 goals and he has another 13 assists to give him 29 points on the season. DraftKings raised his price again this week to move him to $14.5K, but even at that price we aren’t shying away from locking him in to our lineup as the most dangerous scorer in the entire league right now. Toronto FC has been one of the better offensive units in MLS fantasy this season as they’ve totaled 39 goals in 26 games played so far.
F: Ola Kamara, Columbus
Salary: $9,200
Columbus will lean on its most lethal striker to produce in this week’s matchup with San Jose and Kamara should have plenty of chances to deliver. The Crew’s top striker has a team-high 10 goals on the season and after saving money with smart value plays at other positions, we can easily fit his $9.2K salary on our roster as part of a dangerous 1-2 punch at the forward positions. The Crew are currently in last place in the Eastern Conference standings with just 23 points.
FLEX: Bobby Boswell, DC United
Salary: $3,700
With just under $4K left over for our final FLEX position, it only makes sense to find the value defender with the highest upside of the players still available. Boswell fits that role with DC United set to visit the last-place Fire on Saturday and at $3.7K he should be an adequate MLS fantasy play.
