MMA Weekend Odds and Picks Rundown: Mendes Big Favorite At UFC Fight Night

Chad Mendes is a lopsided favorite entering the main event at UFC Fight Night 63.

Even on a holiday weekend, the combat sports calendar remains full.  The books do not have a lot of lines up for boxing yet, though the Adonis Stevenson versus Sakio Bika light heavyweight title bout scheduled for Canada is getting a lot of attention and, of course, the UFC returns with Fight Night 63, one of the stronger cards they have had in a few shows.

In our ongoing Combat Sports Betting Blog, we lay out three bets on the upcoming UFC card headlined by Chad Mendes versus Ricardo Lamas.  The bank sits at just over $2300 dollars as the bets last week went wrong and more than $3000 was lost.

For this week, the lightweights in the UFC dominate as bets were made on Al Iaquinta vs Jorge Masvidal, Michael Chiesa vs Mitch Clarke and Dustin Poirier vs Diego Ferreira.  Poirier is moving up in weight class and he is trying to bounce back from that humiliating loss to Conor McGregor in his last outing, while Chiesa took a loss in his last fight due to a cut.  The Iaquinta vs Masvidal fight pits two men who have won three fights in a row under the UFC banner, so the loser of the fight is sure to suffer a loss of momentum while the winner gets propelled up the ladder.
