Here is a look at Monday’s Fantasy Six.
Center – Joe Pavelski – San Jose Sharks
In a season in which many of the Sharks have fallen short, Pavelski has stood tall as a leader both on the ice and in the dressing room. The Sharks are at the Ottawa Senators on Monday night in a must win game for both teams. With all the mania regarding Ottawa goaltender sensation Andrew Hammond, AKA the Hamburglar, the Sharks and Pavelski make for a good contrarian pick. Pavelski has 34 goals and 31 assists on the season and has had a productive month of March with three goals and five assists in eight games.
Left Wing – Zach Parise – Minnesota Wild The Minnesota Wild have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL with seven wins in their last ten games. Minnesota is at a woeful Toronto Maple Leafs team on Monday night and should have their way against a gutless team that checked out several months ago. Toronto’s defense is nonexistent which opens plenty of opportunity up for left wing Zach Parise. Parise is Minnesota’s leading scorer with 27 goals and 28 assists. Parise has two goals and four assists in his last five games.
Right Wing – Blake Wheeler – Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets will face one of the worst defensive teams in the NHL Monday night at the Edmonton Oilers which opens plenty of opportunity up for Blake Wheeler. Wheeler has 22 goals and 33 assists on the season and has had the hot hand in March with six goals and five assists.
Defenseman – Drew Doughty- Los Angeles Kings
The Los Angeles Kings are at the New Jersey Devils Monday night and that means defenseman Drew Doughty could be a very valuable commodity. The Devils are offensively challenged and play a system that has very little to do with attacking the opposition zone. Doughty will again log plenty of minutes and could be set up for a big night. Doughy has 35 assists on the season but is only a plus-four. That should change for the better Monday night.
Defenseman – Duncan Keith – Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks are at the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night which will open up plenty of opportunity for Duncan Keith. Carolina is another offensively challenged team that Keith and the Hawks should dominate. Keith has eight goals, 33 assists and is a plus-18 which looks quite inviting against Carolina.
Goalie – Devan Dubnyk – Minnesota Wild
While The Hamburglar is garnering all the goaltending headlines with Ottawa, Devan Dubnyk has proven to be the savior of the Wild and head coach Mike Yeo. Dubnyk has a .937 save percentage this month.
